Intimate Fragments

When one thinks of Versailles, one usually thinks of pomp, decadence and indulgence. Despite its size and grandeur, I was surprised at how intimate it could feel. I thought that, at times, its occupants must have tired of the obligations of state, and perhaps of the grandness of it all. So I sought out the quiet spaces and little details, imagining the hidden moments that have been lost to time and history.

Love how you captured Versailles. I've been there many times and feel like with these pics I was seeing it for the first time again.

This post is Versailles captured so beautifully - it's funny, I often wonder similar things - whether the pomp and ceremony ever got to be completely exhausting and people retreated into a corner to be alone?

Just came across your site and blog after "pinning" nearly all of your photographs...didn't realize they were all coming from the same person! You are so, so talented and have such a unique way of capturing some of my favorite places in the world :) I loved Versailles, and I'm amazed at how you managed to make it feel intimate. Expect a large order for some prints coming your way soon!
